Princes House was built for William Lemon in 1739 by the London architect Thomas Edwards. The porch, steps and boundary wall was added in 1891 as designed by Silvanus Trevail. The showroom for H.T.P. Motors Ltds garage was on Princes Street and the premises ran through to the workshops on Back Quay. This building was demolished in 1934 when the garage was extended and refurbished. This print takes us back in time to the bustling streets of Truro, Cornwall, in or before 1934. The focal point of this snapshot is Princes House and Princes Garage on Princes Street, two architectural gems that once graced the cityscape. Princes House was a magnificent creation by London architect Thomas Edwards for William Lemon back in 1739. Its grandeur was further enhanced in 1891 when Silvanus Trevail added a porch, steps, and boundary wall to its already impressive facade. This historic building stood as a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship of the 18th century. Adjacent to it stands Princes Garage, which housed H. T. P. Motors Ltd's showroom on Princes Street while extending through workshops on Back Quay. Sadly, both structures met their demise in 1934 when the garage underwent an extension and refurbishment project.
