LCC-LFB Red Cross Street fire station, City of London
Red Cross Street fire station was built by the London County Council (LCC) and opened in 1900. It was one of four fire stations (plus a river station at Blackfriars) contained within the City of London. Seen here are all its horse drawn fire engines (an escape cart, two steamer pumps and an 85 foot turntable ladder) parading on the forecourt of the station, with the firemen who all lived at the station. The station closed in 1964, replaced by the new Barbican fire station
