The Showgrounds Stadium Fine Art - Coleraine Football Club
The Showgrounds is a football stadium in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. It is the home ground of Coleraine F.C.. The stadium holds 13, 132, but is currently restricted to 2, 496 under safety legislation.[2]
Between September 1971 and October 1972, Derry City F.C. were forced to use the stadium as their home-ground after the Irish Football Association banned the use of their ground in Derry, the Brandywell, due to security fears emanating from the Trouble and civil unrest in the nearby Bogside area. Derrys use ended in 1972 when, faced with dwindling crowds, travelling to Coleraine to play home-games was no longer financially sustainable

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Showgrounds Stadium Fine Art captures the essence of Coleraine Football Club's historic home ground in Northern Ireland. This stunning print showcases the grandeur and rich history of The Showgrounds, a football stadium that has witnessed countless moments of triumph and passion. With a seating capacity of 13,132, this iconic stadium holds a special place in the hearts of both players and fans alike. However, due to safety legislation, it is currently limited to accommodating only 2,496 spectators. Despite this restriction, the spirit and energy within these walls remain unmatched. During a tumultuous period between September 1971 and October 1972, The Showgrounds became an unexpected refuge for Derry City F. C. , as their own ground was deemed unsafe amidst civil unrest in nearby areas. For over a year, Derry City found solace within these hallowed grounds until financial constraints forced them to seek alternative options. This artwork pays homage to the resilience and unity displayed by both clubs during those challenging times. It serves as a reminder that even amidst adversity, football can bring communities together. Whether you are an avid fan or simply appreciate fine art depicting sporting heritage, this print is sure to evoke nostalgia and admiration for Coleraine Football Club's cherished home - The Showgrounds Stadium.
