Wall Art and Photo Gifts from National Railway Museum
Cleethorpes, LNER poster, 1923-1947
Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway to promote rail travel to the popular North East coastal resort of Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. The poster shows a man and woman holding the hands of a small child, paddling in the sea. Artwork by Frank Newbould (1887-1951), who studied at Bradford College of Art and joined the War Office in 1942. He also designed posters for the GWR (Great Western Railway), Orient Line and Belgian Railways
National Railway Museum is the home of iconic locomotives. Our historic prints reflect the age and quality of the original artwork we hold to preserve their artistic character, including authentic colour reproduction, marks and creases.
