This evocative photograph captures the charming exterior of the Cock & Bottle Public House, located in the heart of City, London. The image presents a corner view of the pub, with its distinctive signage featuring a rooster and a bottle, proudly displayed against a red brick backdrop. The pub, which once bore the address EC4N 6HL, was a beloved institution in the community, having served patrons since at least 1934, as evidenced by the trading record printed on the reverse of this photograph. The Cock & Bottle was not owned by Hoare and Company Limited, but rather stood as an independent business. Regrettably, this historic pub was demolished as of July 2018, leaving behind only memories and cherished photographs like this one. The Cock & Bottle was more than just a public house; it was a local watering hole, a gathering place, and a testament to the rich history of City, London.
