STARLETS. Fuschia flowers!Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists
Fuschia flowers!Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees. The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) in 1703 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier. He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs (1501to1566) The Fuchsia flower has four long, slender sepals and four shorter, broader petals; in many species the sepals are bright red and the petals purple (colours that attract the hummingbirds that pollinate them), but the colours can vary from white to dark red, purple-blue, and even orange. For those interested, the anatomy is as follows:1:at the top the green stem is the PEDICLE2:the thicker bit of green is the OVARY3:then you have the (red here) TEPALS4:the mauve petals are the COROLLA5:there are 8 aATAMEN/FILAMENTS/ANTHERS6: And finally: the STYLE or PISTIL, with at the end:7:the STIGMA: the sticky tip of a flower pistil, on which pollen is deposited at the beginning of pollination

STARLETS - A Captivating Display of Fuchsia Flowers
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This mesmerizing print captures the enchanting beauty of starlet-like fuchsia flowers. Originating from the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, these delicate blooms belong to the genus Fuchsia, named after the eminent German botanist Leonhart Fuchs. With their slender sepals and broad petals, fuchsias exhibit a stunning color palette ranging from vibrant reds to deep purples and even oranges. Intriguingly, these vivid hues serve as nature's invitation to hummingbirds who play a vital role in pollination. The anatomy of this floral wonder is revealed through Magda Indigo's lens: starting with the green stem known as the pedicle, followed by the ovary and striking red tepals that surround mauve-colored petals forming the corolla. Eight filaments with anthers gracefully emerge before leading us to the style or pistil culminating in a sticky stigma where pollen finds its resting place during pollination. This image not only showcases Mother Nature's artistic prowess but also highlights her intricate design for reproduction. As we admire this fine art piece captured by Magda Indigo, let us immerse ourselves in awe-inspiring details that remind us of both botanical wonders and our planet's interconnectedness.
