This print showcases the majestic Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS Eagle RO5 as it gracefully sails through the vast sea on March 12,1968. Formerly known as Audacious, this impressive vessel boasts a deck letter "e" and an astounding displacement of 54,100 tons at full load. With a length of 720 feet (pp) and 812 feet overall (o. a), its hull spans over 112 feet while measuring an impressive 171 feet in total. The draught reaches a substantial depth of 36 feet. Equipped with formidable armament, HMS Eagle RO5 features eight powerful guns consisting of two twin starboard and two twin port-mounted 4.5-inch DP cannons, along with four additional three-pounder guns for added firepower. Guided weapons are also part of its arsenal, including six quadruple launchers strategically positioned for Seacat Close Range Ship-To-Air Missiles – three on the starboard side, two on the port side, and one aft. The aircraft carrier's remarkable capacity allows it to accommodate up to thirty-four aircraft alongside ten helicopters. Launched into service on March 19th, 1946 and completed on October1st , 1951, this historic carrier underwent reconstruction at HM Dockyard Devonport from1959 to1964.
