He was a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Automotive Engineers, respectively. The year is 1968, and Dr. North's distinguished career spanned over six decades. He made significant contributions to the development of aircraft engines and propulsion systems, earning him the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) award in 1962. He joined the Royal Aircraft Establishment in 1914, where he worked on the development of aircraft engines during World War I. After the war, he continued his research and development work, eventually becoming the Chief Scientific Officer at Rolls-Royce in 1945. Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. North was a prolific inventor, holding over 100 patents for his inventions. He was also a dedicated educator, serving as the Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Southampton from 1956 to 1960.
