Her charisma and beauty soon caught the eye of King Charles II, who became her lover and patron. Nell's relationship with the monarch brought her immense wealth and social status, allowing her to purchase this elegant townhouse in the fashionable area of Covent Garden. The house, which dates back to the 17th century, was a symbol of Nell's success and independence. It was here that she entertained her many admirers, including the king, and hosted lavish parties. The house was also a refuge for her children, whom she had with her various lovers. After Nell's death in 1687, the house passed through several hands before being demolished in the late 18th century to make way for new development. Today, only a blue plaque marks the spot where Nell Gwyn's house once stood, a reminder of the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman.
